The Social And Community Services (SACS) Metro Delegates Committee meeting of the Victorian and Tasmanian branch of the Australian Services Union has resolved to support the campaign in solidarity with the Boycott Israel 19.
The Metropolitan Delegates Committee of the ASUVT condemns the arrest of 19 at a peaceful Palestine solidarity march in Melbourne on 1st July 2011. The arrests signal a worrying move by the Baillieu Government to criminalise dissent in Victoria that could be used against trade unionists in the future. We support the campaign to defend the arrested.
The ASU endorses the campaign for the right to protest.
Hopefully we will see plenty of ASU flags at the July 29th rally!
